India, August 2025 : The Robin Hood Army (RHA) – a
volunteer-driven, zero-funds organisation – is currently executing #MissionSankalp78, a nationwide
campaign launched to mark India’s 78th Independence Day. The mission brings together
volunteers, civic bodies, and corporate partners to address hunger and
transform public spaces across India.
As part of the
ongoing initiative, RHA aims to serve 78
lakh underserved citizens and revitalise
78 public or community spaces across urban and rural India. The campaign is
designed not only to provide immediate relief but also to invest in long-term
impact, creating opportunities for learning, safety, and community development.
This mission builds
upon a decade of sustained service by the Robin Hood Army. Since its inception
in 2014, RHA has served over 162 million
meals across 407+ cities
globally, powered entirely by its growing volunteer base and strategic
partnerships. The organisation continues to operate on a zero-funds model, relying solely on surplus food, community
goodwill, and volunteer energy.
#MissionSankalp78: A Commitment
The campaign,
launched in early August, is structured around two core efforts:
1. Project 78: Serving 78 Lakh Citizens
Currently underway
in villages, towns, and underserved urban areas, Project 78 is focused on distributing meals, ration kits, hygiene
essentials, and basic supplies to those with limited access to daily
resources. The effort is concentrated especially in rural belts, where
nutritional and infrastructural gaps are often most severe.
Through local
mobilisation, Robins (RHA volunteers) are ensuring dignified service delivery
and addressing pressing needs in real time. Thousands of families have already
been reached, and the numbers continue to grow daily.
2. Project Sankalp: 78 Transformations
Running parallel to
the feeding initiative, Project Sankalp involves the revamp and creation of 78 public spaces in partnership with civic
bodies, schools, and local community groups. These include parks, libraries, learning centres, playgrounds, and heritage
structures that are being transformed into cleaner, more functional, and
inclusive community assets.
Robins, along with
partners and on-ground collaborators, are engaging in activities such as wall
art, landscaping, furniture repair, library setup, playground installation, and
the establishment of skill development
centres. Many of these spaces will also support students from the Robin Hood Academy — RHA’s
volunteer-led learning initiative for children in underserved communities.
The goal is to
create spaces that will serve as symbols
of progress, community pride, and future potential — encouraging collective
ownership and long-term sustainability.
A Decade of Impact
The Robin Hood
Army’s journey began with a simple yet
powerful idea: to redistribute surplus food from restaurants to those in
need. What started as a modest grassroots initiative has, over the last ten
years, grown into a global volunteer
movement across 12 countries.
In this time, the
organisation has made significant strides in its mission to fight hunger and
build community resilience:
●
162+ million meals served to the underserved
●
Active presence in 407+ cities, including Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal
●
A committed volunteer base of over 3 lakh Robins, all working without
any exchange of funds
●
Operates on a zero-funds model, relying solely on community participation and
surplus food
●
Recognised by Harvard Business School as a case study in sustainable, citizen-led models
At the heart of
RHA’s work is its belief in the power of
decentralised action. By enabling everyday citizens — students,
professionals, homemakers — to take ownership of local impact, the movement
proves that meaningful change doesn’t
require money, just intent and commitment.
This citizen-first
approach has inspired communities to take charge of local issues and provide real-time, sustainable solutions to
hunger and social development. As the organisation enters its second decade, it
continues to build on this model — most recently through the ongoing #MissionSankalp78 campaign, which
reflects RHA’s unwavering focus on impact
through community action.
Corporate and Civic Collaboration
As
#MissionSankalp78 progresses, RHA is working closely with:
●
Corporate partners contributing logistics,
material support, and employee volunteering hours
●
Media organisations sharing mission stories
and amplifying grassroots efforts
●
Municipal bodies and government institutions
providing clearances, infrastructure support, and alignment on civic
transformations
Together, these
partnerships are enabling a large-scale, decentralised mission to operate
smoothly and with visible on-ground results.

all walks of life — students, working professionals, artists, educators — are
